aside from the milb webstore which charges a rip off amount for shipping + additional hats, where can I find milb hats?

Lids has some but not a lot. Shipping is okay especially if you have the Lids card.

Milb hats delight and confound me all at once. I've seen some creative and risk taking logos and then I see some ridiculous, boring and missed opportunities for a great cover that never materialize.

I love me some AHL hats though.

See? This is what I'm talking about. A pro team that calls themselves the WHISKEY Jacks. That's just crazy. Can you imagine a pro team having the balls to call themselves something like the Camden, New Jersey Vodka Smashers or the West Memphis Shine Runners!

I love these crazy MiLB teams.

If you buy 2 hats of lids you get free shipping plus your discount with the card.

Check the individual teams sites also. The Durham Bulls site is the ONLY place you'll find their throwback hat, featured in the movie "Bull Durham". Not to mention the colorway and logo just screeeeeeam retro.

neweracap.com has some stuff, but if you go to milb.com, you can actually find some pretty good onfield stuff, albeit the site doesn't have the caps for all of the teams. Some of the stuff is rediculously cheap, you can steal a cool milb onfield for under $25 for most of the teams they have, like this:

or this:
