Bumping this thread back up due to popular demand. I still plan on updating it and adding more recent years in the near future. |
Any update to this? Would love some more recent year info. |
I'm hoping sometime this summer. _________________ The Ballcap Blog is back: @ http://ballcapblog.blogspot.com |

Looking forward to this. Would be helpful when buying older poly's that have to be bought a size up.
Farmer's post is helpful but it actually raises a question for me. I have a Cubs two-tone alt from 07-08 (discontinued after that year according to PSC) and it has the black tagging, not blue. If it's fake, they did a magnificent job with it: nothing else is off besides the AC tag and it might have the most comfortable poly of any cap I own. |

It's either a 2007 or 2008. I'll have to check my notes. It's legit though. _________________ The Ballcap Blog is back: @ http://ballcapblog.blogspot.com |

I believe the first poly tags were black in 2006-2007.
I have a wool hat with a raised batterman from the mid 2000s. How often do you see those? |

Weird!
I had a 2002-2006 Angels with a grey undervisor and "Genuine Merchandise" tag. _________________ The Ballcap Blog is back: @ http://ballcapblog.blogspot.com |

Good to hear. All of the pre-Cool Base poly's I'd seen on Ebay had the black tagging until I went looking for a blue tag poly after reading Farmer's post. I had just assumed the black tagging was standard for that period. |

Yep. And ironically, the blue tag poly caps are really hard to find nowadays. I only have 2. You can find more diamond collection wool caps than the very first poly caps (blue tags)
Also I think the 2016 caps have the words ''NE'' in Gray/Silver as shown in the Orlando Pirates cap compared to older ones being black and white _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/kenlikestheauthenticcollection/albums |

Actually the VERY FIRST polys had ALL BLACK tags. I have one I bought during spring training 2007 that's the Boston Red Sox. The Blue tag came out around June or July that season I believe cause I bought a Reds hat that had a blue tag that summer. I've never seen many with the all black tags, why they changed to blue mid season I don't know. They used those until the cool base tags came out. _________________ "You can't fix stupid" |

I have an '07 Rays (old logo) and '08 WS Rays (current boring logo) both have blue tags.
Also, my '07 Indians road cap has blue tags. _________________ IG: erie_warrior19

Would that make this Oakland A's Green Crown Yellow Brim cap a 1994-1996 year range then?

1993 I'd say.
FYI everyone, an update is still planned. I'm still far too busy. I literally have one night a week to myself to dedicate to my many hobbies right now. _________________ The Ballcap Blog is back: @ http://ballcapblog.blogspot.com |

Tducken, not to confuse things too much from farmermaggots post, there were two eras of the cap you have
The earlier 2001-2003 had MADE IN USA on the middle new era tags. Then around 2003-2005, the MADE IN USA stopped showing up in that spot.
I haven't been able to exactly pinpoint the year it changed, but earlier 2001 era caps had MUSA listed and I have some 2005 like the one above.
The ballcap blog is real nice.
http://ballcapblog.blogspot.com/2010/08/chronology-of-new-era-cap-tags.html?m=1
But it's missing some oddities.
This one I want to place as an early first year poly
Ahead of the white/blue tag
We really need someone to step up for historical sake and get a solid update going.
I do know 1995-2000 era caps have some real tricky tagging. Some of the authentic collection tags mix and match with the size tags and NE tags. So you'll have two elements going to 1999, but there's an older tag marking it more to 1996. All three elements don't often lineup, so you have to ballpark it tov a common 2-4 year era. I'll try to post some examples later.
If anyone wants to collaborate on getting a common era post going, PM me |

Tim (@sdhatcollectors on Twitter) is supposedly doing an update. I'd love to do it but I'm just too busy these days. _________________ The Ballcap Blog is back: @ http://ballcapblog.blogspot.com |
