Recently, I cleaned some of a my wool caps with water/soap and after drying, they are just a smidge too tight. We're talking a 7 5/8 that fits like a small 7 3/8. The problem isn't necessarily the crown, or the sweatband, but the height of the cap itself. It fits more shallow all the way around than it used to.

Any way to relax the wool back to the original sizing? Should I steam the cap, wear it in the shower?

I'd start buy soaking the cap and wearing it until it is completely dry.

Not if you wear it until it's completely dry. Wool has some "give" in both directions.

Maybe putting it on a Nu-cap and over-expanding it could help. I've raised the height of poly's that way though it doesn't always last.
