Just curious... I was looking at fanatics to see if they had any of rhe new Pirates alts (they don't) but they have a ton of the old gold crown alts from two years ago, in both low crown and regular. What's more, they have a complete run of sizes ( up to an 83/8!) on a 1971 TBTC hat (again in both low and high crown) which otherwise appears completely indistinguishable from the old alternates! Does anyone know if the Bucs are bringing back the '71 caps as an alt or as a new TBTC for this season? And if not, why they are selling rhe same cap, under different names at different prices?
I think that was worn on Clemente day before becoming an official alt and was worn on Clemente day again last year. I've seen it listed as a 'Special Event' cap and I assume it's connected to Clemente. Not sure about how MLB and NE handle something like that but it's definitely getting restocked even though it's not an alt as far as I'm aware.
If you look at the item names on the second and fourth pages, you'll see it describes those caps as '1971 Celebration' TBTC's. Don't think I've seen that terminology used for other TBTC's and it sounds vaguely similar to the 'Special Event' description I saw for it elsewhere.
