| Talked to the manager of a sports store here in Reno, and he showed me the New Era order sheet for the "Star & Stripes" Memorial Day caps, and they indicated the Giants would be black with a digital pattern "SF" logo. Anyone seen or heard anything about these? |

All I have heard is team colour with logo rendered in camo, sounds like it lines up with what you were shown.

I agree man, all the hats over the past few years have been brutal. It would be easier if they kept stuff super simple and did some like....Slap a American Flag on the side and keep the American flag batterman logo on the hat.? Something has to change.

Seriously.
All they need to do is put the flag on the side year after year, but they do need to sell more and more hats afterall.....

True, they probly do sell a lot of extra caps every year with the 9/11 support the troops/4th of July caps. But I wish New Era/MLB would bring in some new marketing team and put out better designs or some kinda design contest where we can all have a little input on how the hats will turn out each year. I doubt the last few years caps would never of made it to the stores if the true hat fans had a say by vote or something. I think San Diego has proved that the camo going into unis and caps is a bad idea. I don't know what I think about the description I saw, sounds sketchy.

I wondered what they were doing this season. Felt that they had gone through every combo possible for the previous iterations.
Not only do the hats look horrible, but once they started to farm out production to China, it just became a sad way to exploit patriotism. If we're going to honor U.S. troops, at least get the U.S. factory cooking. The hats will be of better quality, and feel a bit more genuine.
No camo for me. Would rather everyone wear flag patch hats, or WWII era throwbacks. |

WWII era throwbacks disqualifies too many teams and for a lot that were around (Cards, Yanks, Tigers etc) the hats haven't changed.
Why not just do team colour hats with the flag logo on said hat? That way you eliminate the ugliness that teams that don't have red or blue in their colour scheme get when they wear them.
Of course that presumes that these hats need to exist at all, really they are a tribute to capitalism more than anything else.

This could be really good or really bad depending on how they do it. If they keep it all team colours it will be pretty good. But if they make all the hats pretty much the same colours, it will be another flop like previous years.

Sorry, I was thinking of the flagged logos they have used the last 4 years but on a team colour cap instead of the red, blue, etc.

I have always wondered why that had never happened? That I think would be the ideal cap for those patriotic hollidays. I am interested to see how these camo caps come out. Like Spike and DBacks have said earlier I pray they are nothing like the Brewers abomination that came out last year.
