Hi, sorry if this has been done before (Iím sure it has been lots of times), but Iíve just received two new wool 59FIFTY hats in the mail. Just after some information about shaping them. Looked on YouTube for ideas, showers and hot water seeming to be popular. Is this a good idea? What about just wearing them in the sun and sweating? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

With the old wool ACs I've had good luck soaking the hat in hot water and using the paper towel trick. It shrinks the crown, nicely and molds to my head.

With the Chinese wool, this is less successful. It does shrink some, but not as much as the US stuff.

One is Chinese, the other Vietnamese. The Viet is actually perfect the way it is. Iím a little hesitant about wetting the other one though.

That's my preferred method, make sure you avoid the creases on the side panel. If you crease the side panel you can iron it out later.

Hair dryer does the best job to lower a crown for me.

Here's a pretty good video about lowering the frontal crown.

Note: It doesn't work nearly as well on China-made hats with big bubble crowns. You gotta work harder and repeat several times with those. The inner buckram is just so stiff on the foreign-made hats.
